Peter Grist spent over a decade in the Armed Forces where one of his tasks was as a unit driving instructor, winning awards for both LGV and passenger car driving skills. On leaving the Army, he worked in logistical management while retraining for civilian qualifications in driver education. Once qualified he spent many years with the AA driving school before setting up his own business. In that time Peter has become a leading figure in Hampshire road safety; not only teaching novices how to drive, but also presenting the acclaimed MiDAS minibus course, fleet training and assessing adult and elderley drivers for Hampshire County Council.

Peter is also a respected freelance motoring journalist, author and motoring historian, having so far published four books on American automotive history and numerous articles for some of the leading motoring journals throughout the world. He is currently the Editor of TalkFlite magazine. To relax, Peter is part of a living history reenactment group that specialise in WW2 USAAF, bringing history to life at schools, museums and airshows throughout the country. He is also a keen photographer, a singer with GI-45, and makes plastic model kits and dioramas. He keeps fit by Kayaking around Hampshires many rivers and shoreline, running, and is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. This year he hopes to become a military parachutist and complete the Great South Run.
